THE FIRST 12 TUNES TO LEARN:
Different people (players or educators) have their recommended list of "100 tunes everybody should know", or "50 Standards you have to know if you want to go to a Jam-Session" and the like...
I actually compiled another list myself of "Tunes to know" which has about 60 titles, but the challenge here was to come up with a much shorter list-- a starting point, in other words.
Why 12 ? Well, it had to be more than just 10, but not as many as 20. 12 is just that perfect number!
So if you are new at learning songs, you might want to try these first:
(in no particular order)
BLUES (in F and/or Bb & in Cm)
FLY ME TO THE MOON
MACK THE KNIFE
HOW HIGH THE MOON
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER YOU
